Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse or allied health professional with experience of supporting individuals with a learning disability and/or Autism to join the Clinical Review team within the NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work with our system partners and care providers to support the functions of the NHS Care (Education) & Treatment review policy and the Transforming care programme. This will involve reducing the number of people with a learning disability and/or Autism who are in mental health inpatient settings and supporting workstreams associated with admission avoidance to prevent unnecessary or inappropriate admissions.

The role will also involve delivering services and support through the use of technology, requiring the post holder to be IT literate and able to navigate remote platforms.

Main Responsibilities
  • Liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff involved in an individual's care and making links and facilitating communication between different areas and organisations.
  • Managing a caseload of individuals of all ages, including those detained under the mental health act and those within the community whose risk may be escalating or may be at risk of detention.
  • Using critical thinking and decision-making skills to weigh up clinical need against resources and time constraints.
  • Having a sound knowledge of both The Mental Health Act and The Mental Capacity Act and being able to think laterally to meet individual's needs.

Requirements
  • Education to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
  • Health or social care professional registered with a nationally recognised regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England).
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting.
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at Senior Management level.
  • Understanding of the public sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Healthcare environment.
