Powys County Council: Senior Practitioner Position

About the Opportunity:

This exciting role offers a unique chance to join a strong social care team in Llandrindod Wells. As part of our committed management structure, you will deliver high-quality social care services to individuals experiencing mental distress, working under the Welsh Measures and the Social Services and Well-being Act.

You will be responsible for managing a small group of staff, comprising social workers/AMHPs and mental health support workers. Our team operates based on the principles of the Social Services and Well-being Act:

  • Strengths-based practice and what matters to individuals
  • Voicing concerns
  • Control over decisions
  • Prevention-focused approaches
  • Community inclusion

We require AMHP status as we deliver statutory mental health assessment services to people and families within Powys. A relocation package is available for suitable candidates. Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Practitioner, you will:

  • Lead a small management team
  • Deliver high-quality services
  • Provide supervision and complex case work advice
  • Conduct AMHP interventions under the MHA 1983 (2007) amendments
  • Manage caseloads, allocations, and case closures
  • Engage in interagency collaborative working and develop social care processes
Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. This figure is based on national averages for similar roles in the sector and takes into account the location and requirements of the position.
