Role Overview

We are seeking a Lock Operator and Canal Care Professional to join our team at Morson Talent. The successful candidate will be responsible for working on waterways in the Wigan/Pagefield and Liverpool area, ensuring their smooth functioning and safety.

The role involves working on an on-going contract basis, requiring flexibility and adaptability to different tasks and locations. This may include tasks such as lock operation, maintenance of canal banks, vegetation management, and general upkeep of the waterways.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have knowledge of waterway operations and maintenance procedures, as well as the ability to operate locks and other waterway structures. Proficiency in using tools and equipment for waterway maintenance is also essential. A strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to waterway operations is also required.

As a Lock Operator and Canal Care Professional, you will need to possess physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments. Good communication skills are also required for coordinating with team members and stakeholders. Problem-solving skills to address any issues or obstacles in waterway operations are also necessary.

Based on the job requirements, we estimate the salary to be around £28,000 - £32,000 per annum.
