Job Title: Residential Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Worker to join our team at Essex County Council.

About the Role:

As a Residential Worker, you will play a vital role in providing nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to support children in developing the skills and resilience needed to return to their families or onto longer-term care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized care and support to children in a residential setting
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement care plans
  • Support children in developing life skills and promoting independence
  • Manage challenging behavior using de-escalation techniques
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Child Care or equivalent
  • Experience working with children in a residential setting (desirable)
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
