Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Pathology Services Manager to lead our integrated pathology services at Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering robust, patient-focused, and efficient services, while working closely with laboratories, clinicians, and divisional management.

Main Responsibilities

The Pathology Services Manager will provide specialist expertise in Pathology/Haematology and lead the team in implementing quality improvement projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing service delivery models across multiple service suppliers
  • Leading clinical pathologists in the analysis and interpretation of laboratory results
  • Overseeing performance management systems to ensure services meet agreed service specifications
  • Analysing and using performance management data to inform and improve service delivery
  • Collaborating with clinicians, operational leads, and service managers to develop services and manage risk

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Education to first-level degree or equivalent experience
  • Pathology experience
  • Business/management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience at postgraduate/diploma level
  • Evidence of continued professional development

  • Proven experience of working in a business/management/leadership role
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team
  • Leading service changes to improve performance and leading projects
  • Responsible for a budget and budget setting
