Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Biochemistry Specialist Coordinator to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in modern laboratory techniques and good knowledge of current professional issues.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual to develop their leadership and management skills as well as maintain their technical skills. The successful applicant will need to have excellent communication, time management skills, and understanding of project management.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: To lead and manage a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff, ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, quality, and safe POCT service.
  • Communication: To ensure prompt referral of results that exceed action limits to duty biochemist and clinical staff, and to discuss technical information with clients within the hospital and community.
  • Personal and People Development: To assist in formal staff appraisals, make recommendations for further promotion and training needs, and provide tutorial and instruction to entry-grade BMS and assist in the completion of Training Logs and Portfolios.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a qualification as an experienced State Registered Biomedical Scientist, MSc or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry, and extensive post-registration experience of Biomedical Sciences supervising trainee and entry-grade BMS. They will also have a good understanding of other disciplines within the Pathology directorate such as Haematology and comprehension of the significance of clinical governance, clinical audit, and achieving quality targets.

Salary

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £40,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
