Leadership Opportunity in POCT Service Development

An exciting leadership opportunity has emerged within the Point of Care Testing department at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will have the chance to develop their management and technical skills while providing a high-quality POCT service.
Key Responsibilities- Communication: The role involves effective communication with clinical teams, pathology staff, and other stakeholders to ensure prompt referral of results and discussion of technical information.
- Personal and People Development: As a leader, you will assist in formal staff appraisals, supervise and instruct trainee Biomedical Scientists, and provide tutorial instruction to entry-grade BMS.
- Service Development: You will be responsible for implementing new SOPs, reviewing, amending or revising current SOPs, and undertaking developmental work as required.
- Biomedical Investigation and Intervention: Certification of samples received, liaising with medical staff as appropriate, and taking responsibility for completing and checking work performed by more junior staff.
- Systems and Equipment: Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instruments for correct operation, and ensuring continuous operation of essential equipment.
- Information Processing: Ensuring that agreed internal and external quality control procedures are carried out and regularly reviewed.
- People Management: Supervising and co-ordinating the activities of staff within a section of the specialism, ensuring the highest standards of work are maintained.
- Quality: Monitoring the area of responsibility for compliance with UKAS standards.
- Health Safety and Security: Taking appropriate responsibility for the safety and security of the laboratory.
The estimated salary for this position is around £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also receive comprehensive benefits, including opportunities for professional development and career growth.
