Key Responsibilities
  1. Communication: The role involves effective communication with clinical teams, pathology staff, and other stakeholders to ensure prompt referral of results and discussion of technical information.
  2. Personal and People Development: As a leader, you will assist in formal staff appraisals, supervise and instruct trainee Biomedical Scientists, and provide tutorial instruction to entry-grade BMS.
  3. Service Development: You will be responsible for implementing new SOPs, reviewing, amending or revising current SOPs, and undertaking developmental work as required.
  4. Biomedical Investigation and Intervention: Certification of samples received, liaising with medical staff as appropriate, and taking responsibility for completing and checking work performed by more junior staff.
  5. Systems and Equipment: Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instruments for correct operation, and ensuring continuous operation of essential equipment.
  6. Information Processing: Ensuring that agreed internal and external quality control procedures are carried out and regularly reviewed.
  7. People Management: Supervising and co-ordinating the activities of staff within a section of the specialism, ensuring the highest standards of work are maintained.
  8. Quality: Monitoring the area of responsibility for compliance with UKAS standards.
  9. Health Safety and Security: Taking appropriate responsibility for the safety and security of the laboratory.

The estimated salary for this position is around £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also receive comprehensive benefits, including opportunities for professional development and career growth.
