We are seeking an organised and self-motivated individual to join our south area highways maintenance team.

This role offers a great opportunity to consolidate your highway engineering and maintenance knowledge and experience through a busy and challenging position.

You will be an important member of the highways area office management team, playing a pivotal role in our working arrangements with contractors in delivering the service to support the county council's vision and corporate priorities.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the area manager and sector teams in collating, prioritising, and ordering weekly capital and routine works orders to match resource and organisational requirements.
  • Be responsible for co-ordinating sector teams in delivering highway maintenance activities and winter service, ensuring works are ordered and implemented to agreed standards, procedures, programme, time, and budget.
  • Assist area teams with first-line responses to highway matters, working to corporate standards, and deputising for highway engineers as required.
  • Collaborate with area manager and sector teams to deliver capital scheme maintenance briefs to required timescales.
  • Assist with budget monitoring and management.
  • Produce and maintain schedules for annual maintenance activities such as grass cutting and gully cleansing, and issue orders proactively.
  • Manage work carried out by partners and contractors.
  • Line manage up to 2 agency inspector drivers.
  • Support the area manager as directed.

Salary and Benefits:

The successful candidate can expect a salary of £34,834 to £36,648 per annum, plus a range of benefits including flexible working opportunities, health and wellbeing services, and access to a local government pension scheme.
