Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our client's business as an Interim Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the engineering department in the creation of new designs using 3D CAD tools to support New Product Development programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering department in the creation of new designs using 3D CAD tools
  • Modify existing designs to meet customer requirements
  • Support the technical department with design verification information and compilation of product specification sheets
  • Develop production drawings and bills of materials accurately and promptly
  • Liaise with sales and commercial teams to develop design briefs and support large proposal activity
  • Support production with new initiatives requiring design support
  • Develop and implement 'best practice' in the department to streamline processes
  • Develop KPIs and personal performance plans for the team
  • Liaise with customers and commercial teams regarding drawings and approvals

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with 3D Design software
  • Previous experience managing design teams
  • Understanding of design against specifications
  • Passionate about creative problem-solving
  • A background in assembly, fabrication, modular, caravan, windows and doors, holiday home, construction or mechanical industries would be advantageous
