Our client, a leading company in the manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Interim Technical Manager to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth and success.

The Technical Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve product portfolio, leading a small team of designers, and collaborating with engineering functions to ensure design compliance with legislation. You will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge and ensuring the effective implementation of design processes.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment, proficiency in 3D Design software, and previous experience managing design teams. A background in assembly, fabrication, modular, caravan, windows & doors, holiday home, construction, or mechanical industries would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product portfolio
  • Lead a small team of designers
  • Collaborate with engineering functions to ensure design compliance with legislation
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure effective implementation of design processes
  • Develop and implement best practices in the department
  • Liaise with sales and commercial teams to develop design briefs and support proposal activity
  • Support production with new initiatives requiring design support

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in 3D Design software
  • Previous experience managing design teams
  • Understanding of design against specifications
  • Passionate about creative problem-solving
