We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our client's business as they undergo an exciting phase of growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the product portfolio, leading a small team of designers, and interacting with the broader engineering functions.
The Technical Manager will play a key role in ensuring design compliance with legislation and maintaining up-to-date knowledge. They will also be responsible for leading the engineering department in the creation of new designs using 3D CAD tools, modifying existing designs, and supporting the technical department with design verification information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering department in the creation of new designs using 3D CAD tools to support New Product Development programmes.
- Modify existing designs to meet customer requirements.
- Support the technical department with design verification information and compilation of product specification sheets.
- Develop production drawings and bills of materials accurately and promptly.
- Liaise with sales and commercial teams to develop design briefs and support large proposal activity.
- Support production with new initiatives requiring design support.
- Develop KPIs and personal performance plans for the team.
- Liaise with customers and commercial teams regarding drawings and approvals.
Requirements:
- Experience in a Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with 3D Design software.
- Previous experience managing design teams.
- Understanding of design against specifications.
- Passionate about creative problem-solving.
- A background in assembly, fabrication, modular, caravan, windows and doors, holiday home, construction, or mechanical industries would be advantageous.
