The Director of Primary Care & GP Out of Hours will be responsible for leading the programme of primary care transformation across all independent contractor services, working with our key stakeholders to deliver the necessary transformation of our primary care services and workforce.
The post holder will oversee Primary Care Contracts - General Medical and Ophthalmic, as well as the implementation and provision of our new service model for GP Out of Hours services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, ensuring that these are delivered to the required quality and standards and in turn support the primary care transformation programme.
The post holder will be accountable to multiple stakeholders, including NHS Scotland, the six Integrated Joint Boards, and professional advisory committees. This will require developing a shared strategic direction, priorities, and collective accountability, supported by the governance arrangements of multi-partner oversight groups.
The post holder will have a key role in the extended Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), which is now an established part of core general practice provision, with particular progress and investment on those areas with an associated commitment to change in responsibility for service delivery.
The post holder will have a major influential role in providing strategic direction, governance, and assurance for NHS Scotland. They will be expected to attend the Corporate Management Team (CMT) as and when required and attend NHS Scotland Board meetings to provide advice on issues related to the delivery of primary care services when required.
Qualities and experience required for this post include an ability to work as part of a whole system with other directors and evidence of strategic thinking applied to organisational achievement. Demonstrable strategic and operational experience at Corporate Management team level in a complex healthcare system is required. A detailed understanding of health and social care best practice and policy and national credibility in your field with excellent oral and written communication skills is essential.
