Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological assessments and interventions to children and families referred to our service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to children and families, including the provision of specialist reports, formulation, consultation, supervision, and training to non-psychologist colleagues and professional carers.
  • Join the Senior Leadership team to ensure the effective running of the service, including contributing to service development, policy changes, and effective working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
  • Utilize research skills for audit, policy, and service development, and research.
  • Ensure the development, maintenance, and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • Registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council.
  • Assessed experience and competencies normally acquired through working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of four years, with significant experience in services for children with mental health, health, and/or neurodevelopmental difficulties.
  • Experience of working and communicating with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, including children of pre-school, primary school age, and adolescents, as well as work with family groups and adults.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialized areas of psychological practice.
  • Experience of representing a psychological perspective within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
  • Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of children with highly complex needs.

  • Ability to identify, provide, and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to identify and employ clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behavior.
  • Commitment and competencies in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
