Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Solicitor to join our team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and support to the Trust in relation to clinical negligence claims, inquests, and other healthcare-related matters.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and support to the Trust in relation to clinical negligence claims, inquests, and other healthcare-related matters.
  • Attend inquests and conduct advocacy on behalf of the Trust.
  • Work closely with the Trust's clinical teams to identify and manage risks associated with clinical negligence claims.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal reporting systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting of claims and incidents.
  • Provide training and support to Trust staff on healthcare law and clinical negligence matters.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective management of claims and incidents.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in clinical negligence claims within the NHS.
  • Experience of attending inquests and conducting advocacy.
  • Experience of healthcare advisory matters, including consent, capacity, and confidentiality.
  • Previous experience of High Court matters.
  • Excellent general knowledge of clinical/medical terminology.
  • Experience of working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and managing own workload.
  • Experience of managing a large workload at a senior level without supervision.
  • Experience of working with databases and interpretation of data and report writing.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of managing and developing teams.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience of quality management processes and quality improvement mechanisms.
  • Experience of using hospital administration and patient information systems.
  • Experience in risk management and working closely with Governance Teams.

Working Environment:

The successful candidate will be based at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will work closely with the Trust's clinical teams, Governance Teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective management of claims and incidents.
