Senior Clinical Leader for Acute Mental Health Services

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead our multidisciplinary team on Medlock ward, a 22-bedded all female acute assessment unit. As a key member of the Trust's senior leadership team, you will provide clinical leadership and expertise in delivering high-quality mental health services.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide medical leadership for MDT meetings and contribute to the development of evidence-based treatment plans.
- Carry out comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment for inpatients on the ward, ensuring effective communication with colleagues and families/carers.
- Support ward-based staff in managing psychiatric emergencies and develop their skills through training and coaching.
- Conduct patient reviews and lead multidisciplinary ward reviews, CPA reviews, and multi-professional meetings, promoting collaboration and best practice.
- Be responsible for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and carry out duties in accordance with the code of practice, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Renew and maintain Responsible Clinician status according to agreed procedures, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and guidelines.
- Carry out comprehensive risk assessments and participate in the Trust's risk management processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Provide medical leadership to the inpatient ward team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Maintain effective communication and work collaboratively with other parts of the service, including community mental health teams, services, and primary care, to ensure seamless care pathways.
- Liaise with families and carers, providing them with accurate information and support, and completing reports for Mental Health Tribunals with the support of the Staff Grade doctor.
- Attend Mental Health Tribunals or supervise other members of the medical team in Tribunal work, assessing for the use of the Mental Health Act, completing consent to treatment, and authorising Section 17 leave.
