Job Title: Human Resources Director

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Director will lead the HR function internationally, providing forward-thinking HR strategies and advice. This role will drive talent management, development, engagement, and lead the HR team to manage all required HR administration duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the HR function and line manage HR team members.
  • Oversee all HR processes, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose.
  • Implement recommended HR process improvements and ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Lead the company through the ISO process and ensure H&S compliance.
  • Manage and present at All Hands meetings.
  • Head of committees, including charity.
  • Lead SLT minute taking, ensuring they are ISO compliant, and communicate information through the business.
  • Create and implement an onboarding process.

HR Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Own and steer the HR strategy, ensuring it is successful and ahead of industry standards.
  • Provide guidance and input on workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.
  • Participate in the senior leadership team and provide sound innovative HR advice to enhance the business.
  • Work with the design department to implement a compelling employer brand using platforms like LinkedIn and Glassdoor.
  • Lead company engagement initiatives, including the engagement survey and applicable engagement plans.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies, ensuring they align with company objectives.

Staff Morale:

  • Devise and implement methodologies to measure staff satisfaction, morale, and effectiveness.
  • Implement strategies to improve staff satisfaction, motivation, and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

HR Budget:

  • Manage the HR budget efficiently, ensuring actions and plans align with the budget.
  • Use the HR budget appropriately for training and engagement requirements.

Recruitment/Induction:

  • Manage the entire recruitment process, including drafting job ads, sourcing recruitment platforms, and coordinating interviews.
  • Continually develop methods for direct recruiting, decreasing the cost of recruitment using platforms like LinkedIn.
  • Produce and maintain job descriptions for all roles within the company.
  • Ensure all staff photos are updated on the Company website.

Employment Law/Employee Relations:

  • Keep abreast of and understand changes to UK and EU employment legislation and law, managing changes where appropriate.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations, fostering a supportive work environment, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Serve as primary support for grievances, disciplinaries, appeals, and related matters.
  • Advise and guide management on all aspects of employee relations and employment law.
  • Ensure the company is always legally compliant with employment law.
  • Manage the Employee Handbook and company policies, ensuring they are legally compliant and up to date.
  • Drive employee retention.

Training and Development:

  • Lead the company's appraisal process, making recommended changes.
  • Devise and deliver management training programs on all aspects of people management, linking to ISO requirements.
  • Maintain career matrix/competencies required for each level within the business.
  • Recommend strategic training requirements for all departments, working with the SLT to implement.
  • Develop training plans for high-potential employees, including management development and coaching.

HR Records/Administration:

  • Lead the HR team to maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and employee files.
  • Lead the HR team to produce all HR correspondence, including contracts of employment, changes to terms and conditions, leaver information, and any other ad-hoc employee correspondence.
  • Direct team members to log and keep records of absence, sickness, and holidays.

Payroll, Benefits, and Salary Review:

  • Liaise closely with the payroll provider to ensure accurate delivery of the monthly payroll.
  • Lead the HR team to manage the company auto-enrolment pension scheme.
  • Recommend and manage any applicable benefit scheme(s), working with appropriate 3rd parties to deliver.
  • Work with the SLT team to implement annual salary review recommendations where necessary.

HR Reports and Metrics:

  • Lead the HR team to manage all required HR monthly reports and ad-hoc report requests.
  • Produce and maintain useful HR metric reports/employee feedback to guide the business on strategic HR decisions.
  • Collate and analyze industry staff salary data, ensuring the business is competitive.

Job Requirements:

  • A strong understanding and proven track record with demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
  • 8+ years of general HR experience.
  • 5+ years of managerial HR experience.
  • Experience in shaping and leading the HR strategy and function for a company with at least 70+ employees.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and mentor team members.
  • Ability to lead on the best process to deliver on time and in budget.
  • Ability to cope with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in shaping and delivery of training desirable.
  • Experience in employee engagement desirable.
  • Ability to manage the monthly payroll and benefit arrangements.
  • Employment law knowledge and ability to deal with sensitive situations.
