Job Title: Financial Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Manager to join our team at WellChild. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a vital role in driving excellence and integrity in financial management and strategic financial decisions.

About the Role:

As our Financial Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading financial processes, undertaking budget planning, providing financial guidance, and collaborating with senior management on financial planning. You will also ensure the charity is ready for annual audits, including setting up and managing external relationships.

You will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking. You will also have a proficiency in accounting and a relevant finance qualification, such as ACA or ACCA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on Financial Processes: Utilise expertise to manage financial procedures.
  • Undertake Budget Planning: lead the budget process working alongside budget holders management.
  • Financial Guidance: Provide advice to the charity.
  • Collaboration with CEO and SMT: Work closely with senior management on financial planning.
  • Audit Preparedness: Ensure the charity is ready for annual audits including the set up and management of this external relationship.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary circa £41,000 per annum.
  • 23 days holiday on appointment rising to 27 days plus 8 bank holidays.

Requirements:
  • An Accountancy qualification at ACA (or equivalent) level.
  • Proficiency in charity accounts – a working understanding of SORP.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Experience in financial planning, including long-term budgeting and modelling.
  • Involvement in strategic discussions related to financial policies and decision-making.
  • Proven success in working with auditors and managing audit processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline audit procedures and enhance efficiency.
