About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team at a Levenshulme secondary school.

">

This is a full-time position that requires the successful candidate to work closely with students who may require additional guidance in managing behaviour and building positive relationships within the school environment.

">

The Behaviour Support Assistant will be responsible for providing one-on-one and small group support to students, assisting them in developing self-regulation strategies and building positive behaviours in a school setting.

">

Work alongside teaching staff to promote an inclusive, respectful classroom environment, assist in maintaining classroom discipline, and support students during lessons.

">

Implement behaviour management plans tailored to individual students, applying de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and structured support to encourage positive choices.

">

Establish positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model to help them build self-confidence, resilience, and respectful communication skills.

">

Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies, share observations, and contribute to the development of individual support plans.

">

Supervise students in various settings including break times, school activities, and transitions between classes, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all.

">

Document student progress and behaviours, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and maintaining accurate records to support targeted interventions and monitor student development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in behaviour support, youth work, or a similar setting is highly advantageous, especially in working with secondary school students">
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage with students and staff">
  • A calm, understanding approach when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, paired with the ability to remain consistent and fair">
  • Able to manage and adapt to the fast-paced environment of a secondary school, remaining proactive and flexible in various situations">
  • Collaborative approach to working with staff, contributing positively to the school's supportive environment">
  • Dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive school setting where all students feel valued and supported">
