About this Role:


GSL SEN Education is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work with SEN children in a local mainstream primary school.


This is a day-to-day role, covering sicknesses and absences, with a focus on building trusting relationships with students and supporting them with complex mental health and emotional needs.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Working 1:1 with students offering extra support.

Requirements:



  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent.
  • A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
