Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Alcohol Care Team Nurse to join our team at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Alcohol Care Team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care and treatment to patients with alcohol misuse issues.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients who misuse alcohol, advising Trust staff on care and management of acute alcohol-related issues, and participating in the development and delivery of education programmes for Trust staff in the specialty of alcohol misuse.

You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide individualized care plans, screen patients for alcohol-related health and social problems, and undertake appropriate interventions or referrals. Your expertise will also be utilized to educate patients and their families on alcohol-related harms and deliver brief advice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients who misuse alcohol and develop comprehensive care plans
  • Advise Trust staff on care and management of acute alcohol-related issues
  • Participate in the development and delivery of education programmes for Trust staff
  • Screen patients for alcohol-related health and social problems and undertake appropriate interventions or referrals
  • Educate patients and their families on alcohol-related harms and deliver brief advice
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in nursing, preferably with a degree-level qualification in a relevant field. You should have current NMC registration and experience working in a multi-agency approach to care planning for patients who abuse alcohol.

Desirable qualifications include management studies or alcohol studies qualifications, as well as experience working in the substance and alcohol use sector and multi-agency working and training.

You should possess excellent clinical knowledge of substance use and alcohol withdrawal, as well as the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies.
