Job Description

As an Industrial Engineering Apprentice, you will complete the 3-year apprenticeship qualification: Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician Apprenticeship standard.

You will gain on-the-job experience, starting with shadowing your mentor and other Engineers, progressing to performing tasks under supervision, then alongside qualified Engineers where your work will be checked and signed off.

In Year 4, you will gain independent on-the-job practical experience, and undertake further internal training, to make the transition to become a fully-qualified Engineer upon successful completion of the programme.

Work will be carried out on customer's premises and at Briggs Equipment Group workshop locations within your specified region.


Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 in Year 4, with progression from £15,700 in Year 1.

You will also receive a brand-new stocked Toolbox, float to pay for travel expenses, Briggs Boost benefit scheme, and more.

A contributory pension scheme and 25 days holiday + bank holiday are also included.


Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • a minimum of ~3 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or Scottish National 5 Grade C or above in English, Science & Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • enthusiasm for all aspects of engineering, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic
  • ability to complete apprenticeship qualification tasks independently, managing and prioritizing own workload, working to deadlines under pressure
  • understanding of the principles of good customer service

You should also be comfortable working outdoors in inclement weather conditions and completing both manual labor and administrative tasks.
