Job Title: Category Manager

About the Role:

Hampshire County Council's Children's Services Directorate is seeking a highly skilled Category Manager to join our Sufficiency Service team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in commissioning capacity in the external market to support our statutory sufficiency duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the sufficiency of Independent Non-Maintained Special School (INMSS) places and Alternative Provision places across Hampshire and out of county.
  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies to meet current and future needs in line with the commissioning strategy and SEND policy direction.
  • Liaise with service providers to shape the provider market and facilitate service developments.
  • Lead a diverse portfolio of activity to support the delivery of statutory services for children and young people in Hampshire.
  • Manage large contracts and multiple suppliers, using commercial experience and acumen to negotiate effective supplier relationships.

Requirements:

  • Excellent analytical and IT skills, including the ability to manage, manipulate, analyse and present data to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Strong partnership working experience, stakeholder management and influencing skills to maintain constructive relationships across internal stakeholders, external suppliers and partner organisations.
  • Positive, solutions-focussed approach and a drive for continuous improvement.
