Northumberland County Council is a local authority that provides various services to the community. Our Short-Term Support Service offers reablement and rehabilitation to adults living in their own homes, helping them regain independence after illness, hospital discharge, or to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
The service includes reablement and therapy staff working together to promote independence in daily living tasks, including equipment provision and rehabilitation programs. Job Summary
We are seeking a Reablement Worker to join our team, providing short-term interventions to promote people's independence. The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting individuals to regain their ability to carry out day-to-day tasks, with a focus on promoting independence in daily living activities.
The role involves visiting clients in their own homes, supporting them to set personal goals, and helping them achieve these objectives. This could include assisting with personal care, meal preparation, improving mobility within the home, and supporting clients to get out into their community.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the job include promoting independence with:
- Personal care, including showering and dressing
- Medication management
- Meal preparation and cooking
- Improving mobility within the home
- Shopping and errands
- Laundry and household chores
- Support to get out and about in the community

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients and provide advice in accurate spoken English
- A full valid UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes
- NVQ2 desirable or a commitment to achieving the Care Certificate Award and undertaking further training to meet the post's requirements
