Advanced Radar Technology Specialist

The Met Office is a leading provider of weather and climate services, delivering accurate and reliable forecasts and warnings to our customers. Our Radar Research and Development Team is a key part of this effort, working to develop new technologies and improve our radar systems to deliver timely and actionable information.
As a Scientific Radar Systems Developer, you will join a talented team of scientists and engineers working together to advance our radar capabilities. You will design and develop new software solutions to exploit the full potential of our radar systems, leveraging cloud computing technologies to produce high-quality radar products.
The role requires a strong background in mathematical or computational science, as well as experience in designing, writing, and understanding Python code in a cloud-based Linux environment. You will work closely with our scientists and engineers to develop high-quality code and implementations of their research, leading activities to develop their capabilities.
Our Radar R&D team is responsible for end-to-end upgrades of the UK Weather Radar capability. You will work with our upgraded Dual Polarisation radars to develop new technologies and improve our radar systems. Your contributions will have a direct impact on our ability to provide accurate weather forecasts and warnings.
