Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students aged 4-11, contributing to their social, emotional, and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers to work with groups of children, providing support and guidance to facilitate their learning.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the class teacher and maintain accurate records of student development.
  • Attend to children's personal needs, including minor first aid, and offer guidance on pastoral, social health, physical hygiene, and welfare matters.
  • Engage with teachers, caregivers, and parents to monitor student development and provide support as needed.
  • Support children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to facilitate their learning and promote academic achievement.
  • Be a positive role model for students and staff, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to their education and well-being.
  • Grade C or above (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English.
  • Enhanced child DBS (we can assist if you don't already have one).
  • Classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Patience and understanding to support pupils in understanding lessons and engaging in activities planned by the teacher.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Sponsorship not provided).
