Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Peer Support Specialist. The successful candidate will provide support to students through one-on-one tutoring and group sessions.

Compensation: $17.20 per hour (casual, part-time)

This position is perfect for students who are looking to develop their leadership skills and gain experience in teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds and help them achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend all training sessions for tutors
  • Be available to work up to 24 hours per week as a peer tutor throughout the semester
  • Share your availability for the semester and amend it as needed
  • Be punctual for scheduled tutor appointments and communicate with students and the Peer Tutor Coordinator if unable to attend
  • Utilize learning strategies and techniques shared during training sessions to promote independent learning
  • Serve as a role model for students and follow all Fanshawe College policies
  • Complete time reporting responsibilities every session
  • Check messages daily and respond to messages from students and the Peer Tutor Coordinator within 24 hours

Requirements:
  • Must be a Fanshawe student in at least their 2nd semester
  • Must be achieving 70% in the course(s) they wish to tutor
  • Must maintain an overall average of 70% or higher
  • Must be legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada
