The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional Cost-Saving Medicines Specialist to join its team. This role will involve working with clinical and financial stakeholders to optimize the use of biologic medicines, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards of patient care.

The successful candidate will have experience in working at a high level in various clinical areas, budget management skills, and success in achieving savings. They will also possess expertise in creating evidence-based reviews on medicines, working in multidisciplinary teams, and undertaking audits or drug use evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

">
  1. To develop a robust framework for implementing upcoming biosimilars, ensuring maximum cost efficiency while maintaining high standards of patient care.
  2. To deputize for the chair of the Best Value Medicines and Biologics Group, coordinating the cost-effective use of biologic medicines and overseeing the savings plan.
  3. To support the Biologics and Medicine Value Lead pharmacists in promoting best value in the use of high-cost drugs, particularly biologic medicines.
  4. To identify and implement savings opportunities relating to biologic medicines, working closely with the Senior Pharmacy Management Team and other stakeholders.
  5. To contribute to the Trust's Medicines Optimisation strategy by optimizing the use of medicines within the Trust.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including pension scheme, annual leave, and training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Qualified pharmacist with a master's degree or equivalent
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • Experience in budget management and savings achievement
  • Expertise in creating evidence-based reviews on medicines and working in multidisciplinary teams
