Apprentice - Level 3 in Engineering and Manufacturing

Gem Partnership is seeking a highly skilled Apprentice - Level 3 in Engineering and Manufacturing to join our team. As an Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in ensuring processes are available to meet customer and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct ongoing analysis and continuous improvement of existing processes, focusing on cost, quality, delivery, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Evaluate customer requirements to support new product activity, ensuring seamless integration with production processes.
- Oversee production processes, tooling, jigs, and equipment to support new product introduction and continuous improvement of existing products.
- Provide production support, including developing production documentation, standard operating procedures, delivering training, and ensuring adherence from production teams.
- Collaborate with other engineers, managers, and production staff to transfer processes into production, driving efficiency and productivity.
- Offer ongoing technical support and assistance to production and maintenance teams, ensuring smooth operations.
- Work within the constraints of cost, quality, time, and resources to deliver high-quality results.
- Solve engineering problems in a disciplined, efficient, and timely manner, leveraging expertise and knowledge.
- Liaise with production and operations management to decide the best means of meeting customer orders, ensuring timely delivery.
- Program, set up, and monitor production equipment, reacting to any changes outside normal operation, and maintaining optimal performance.
- Analyze internal KPI and yield metrics to drive improvements, identifying areas for growth and development.
- Keep up-to-date all relevant documentation, systems, and records, including controlling calibration requirements for production equipment, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Interact with suppliers to specify, develop, and implement efficient and cost-effective systems, equipment, and processes, enhancing overall performance.
Candidates should hold at least a HND in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally degree qualified, and have at least 2 years in a similar engineering role supporting fast-moving manufacturing processes. Experience with systemic improvement methodologies such as six sigma or lean will be a distinct advantage, along with exposure to automated/robotic manufacturing equipment.
