Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team at EPCC, the UK's leading centre for high performance computing and data science service provision. The successful candidate will have excellent Linux system administration skills and a strong understanding of underlying infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and develop diverse set of systems and architectures at our state-of-the-art 38MW supercomputing data centre.
  • Provide excellent service to users and independently follow tasks through to successful completion.
  • Manage small IT projects, set deadlines and expectations, communicate to internal and external stakeholders and provide satisfaction through to completion.
  • Apply specialist system administration and infrastructure management skills to solve technically complex problems and generate innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree plus some experience (or extensive experience without a degree) as a Senior Linux system administrator.
  • Dedication to the acquisition and sharing of subject matter expertise in relevant technical areas.
  • Drive to provide excellent service to users and independently follow tasks through to successful completion.
  • Capability of managing small IT projects and applying specialist system administration and infrastructure management skills.
