Job Overview

We are excited to offer an Early Years practitioner position at our specialist provision in Worcester, where you will contribute to the care and education of children with special needs up to 5 years old.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging playroom environment, responding to children's needs.
  • Develop and deliver activities tailored to individual children's requirements, promoting cognitive and physical growth.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families and professionals, facilitating open communication.
  • Provide dedicated Key Person support, observing, assessing, and planning to enhance children's development.
  • Accurately record observations and share with staff and parents, ensuring seamless progress tracking.
  • Cultivate meaningful interactions with children using 'shared play' or 'reflective' approaches, fostering social and emotional growth.
  • Implement teaching/learning strategies when necessary, adapting support to meet individual needs.
  • Offer emotional support to children and promote parents' understanding of their child's play needs.

Requirements

  • Capable of interacting with parents in a compassionate and empathetic manner, actively listening and being non-judgmental.
  • Effective at involving parents in sessions, addressing their concerns, and making them feel valued.
  • Prepared to participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Holding a qualification at NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development or equivalent.
  • Proficient in organisational and communication skills to coordinate play activities.
  • Aware of Health & Safety regulations and play materials promoting diversity and respect.

Salary and Benefits

  • Estimated salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
  • Fully paid DBS check and yearly update service renewal.

  • 39 week contract with 38 weeks in centre and 5 inset days.
