The role of Child Protection Specialist is a critical part of our efforts to prevent child exploitation and ensure the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate professional to join our team as a Child Protection Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting timely Welfare Return Interviews with children and young people who have gone missing from home or care.

As a Child Protection Specialist, you will work closely with our partner agencies, including West Mercia Police, Youth Justice Service, Health, and Education, to provide comprehensive support and protection for children and young people at risk of exploitation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough Welfare Return Interviews to understand the reasons behind a child's absence and identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with the child's allocated Social Worker and other professionals to develop effective support plans and strategies to prevent future incidents.
  • Provide expert guidance and advice on issues related to child sexual exploitation, gangs/youth violence, lack of educational engagement, and other relevant topics.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in social work or a related field, with experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with children, families, and professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex needs and develop effective solutions.

Salary Information:

The salary for this role is £29,269 - £31,364 per annum, depending on experience. This includes 26 days paid holiday (pro rata for part-time staff), plus bank holidays and additional leave entitlements.
