Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Homeless Accommodation Officer to join our team at Essential Employment. As a key member of our Housing Operations department, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conduct thorough assessments of individuals who present as homeless or potentially homeless, determining their housing needs and identifying any responsibilities owed to them under relevant legislation.
  • To provide expert advice and assistance on housing options, securing temporary, supported, and permanent accommodation, and preventing homelessness through timely interventions.
  • To conduct one-to-one interviews with clients to determine their housing needs and provide personalized support.
  • To collaborate with local agencies to determine duties owed to individuals who are or may become homeless and issue decisions accordingly.
  • To maintain accurate records of homelessness cases on our database and ensure timely entry of new cases.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to homelessness.
