Are you passionate about supporting students with autism?

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working closely with a fantastic SEN School in Horsham, designed specifically to cater to primary and secondary-aged pupils with autism.

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and enriching environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with autism across various age groups, from primary to secondary levels.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive learning activities, including sensory play, communication exercises, and social skills development.
  • Provide one-on-one support to pupils, helping them with daily tasks and reinforcing positive behaviours.
  • Help create and maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's education and wellbeing.
  • Participate in regular training sessions and team meetings to continuously improve your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or adults with autism or other special educational needs is highly advantageous.
  • A compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • A child-only DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or Education is preferred but not essential.
