Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism in a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed for pupils with autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with autism across various age groups, from primary to secondary levels, in a structured and supportive classroom environment.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, ensuring a cohesive approach to each child's education and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive learning activities, including sensory play, communication exercises, and social skills development, to promote positive behaviors and academic progress.
  • Provide one-on-one support to pupils, helping them with daily tasks and reinforcing positive behaviors, to create a supportive and enriching environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to each child's education and wellbeing.
  • Participate in regular training sessions and team meetings to continuously improve your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or adults with autism or other special educational needs is highly advantageous, although we welcome open-minded and enthusiastic individuals who thrive when helping others.
  • A compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude, with a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (5:00 PM finish on Wednesdays), with flexibility to adapt to the needs of the school and students.
  • A child-only DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply), ensuring the highest level of safeguarding and protection for our students.
  • A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care or Education is preferred but not essential, as we provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
