About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusion Unit team. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with additional needs, including those with EHCPs, to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve their engagement with core curriculum subjects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support individual pupils to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve their engagement with core curriculum subjects.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in accordance with the school's approach and policies.
  • Deliver planned interventions and activities to support pupil progress.
  • Ensure pupil safety and welfare is maintained at all times.
  • Provide regular feedback to the SENDCo and other relevant staff members.
Requirements
  • Prior experience working with young people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Good listening skills and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Patience and resilience to work with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.
Desirable Criteria
  • Team Teach training or experience.
  • Education or Teaching Assistant qualification.
