Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Specialist Support

A reputable secondary school in South Gloucestershire is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to provide specialist support to students with additional needs. The school has an inclusion unit where tailored lessons and individualized support take place.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support students to develop positive self-regulation skills and improve engagement with core curriculum subjects.
  • Lead one-to-one activities under the guidance of the SENDCo, working towards established targets in collaboration with other staff.
  • Manage challenging behaviour using the school's approach.
  • Ensure pupil safety and welfare is maintained at all times.
  • Provide regular feedback to the SENDCo.
Essential Criteria:
  • Prior experience working with young people.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Good listening skills and ability to adapt to individual needs.
  • Patience and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Team Teach training or experience.
  • Education or Teaching Assistant qualification.
