SEN Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with the SENDCo, Deputy SENDCo, and teaching staff in Primary settings in Bristol and South Glos. The successful candidate will support students by helping to implement whole-school SEND priorities and enable students to engage with their learning and reach their full potential.

About the Role

The SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside a team, supporting teaching and learning in the classroom to ensure the designated student is supported in their individual needs as outlined in their EHCP. This will involve adjusting techniques and activities according to students' responses, requiring a proven ability to think on your feet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with special educational needs in a Primary setting
  • Work closely with the SENDCo and teaching staff to implement whole-school SEND priorities
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized plans to support students' learning
  • Provide one-to-one support to students as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing situations
