Software Project Lead

Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 – Dependant on experience

We're working with a world-leading technical & scientific engineering organisation, with sites across Europe, to find a skilled Software Project Leader with a background in deploying Virtualised and Containerised systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and bid estimating, allocating work, tracking progress, working with supplier teams to define system requirements, and resolving current issues.
- Involvement in all aspects of the development, integration, delivery into service and service support.
- Working with cutting-edge technologies across a range of land and maritime defence projects.
- Leading research and development into how virtualisation and containerisation can be used in current and future products.
Requirements:
- A passion for software engineering and management, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems.
- Software engineering experience with Virtualisation & Containerisation technologies – VMware, and Docker.
- Adaptable and creative, combining technical team leadership, project management, and team building aspects.
- Experience developing in Python and other languages.
- Experience with DevOps and/or DevSecOps.
- Experience working in a continuous integration environment and familiarity with build processes and tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.
- Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, and experience working with Linux, scripting languages, and Hypervisors.
- Comfortable working with a team in a collaborative environment, communicating and contributing to design and implementation decisions.
- Ability to succinctly document working knowledge and processes via Wiki (Confluence).
