Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry

The successful candidate will provide medical input to the Older Person's Community Mental Health Team, working closely with junior medical staff to manage, appraise, and give professional supervision. This will involve assessing competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework and ensuring that junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
Main DutiesThe post holder will provide an assessment and treatment service for people over the age of 65, working in collaboration with the secondary older person's team based at Llys Dyfrig in Llandudno. The team provides primary and secondary care services in line with the Mental Health Measure, including a memory clinic with multidisciplinary input and care coordination within secondary care.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and appraise junior medical staff
- Provide professional supervision and support
- Assess competences under the Modernising Medical Careers framework
- Ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant
- Provide an assessment and treatment service for people over the age of 65

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry, with experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team and delivering postgraduate teaching. They will also have evidence of having delivered multidisciplinary teaching and experience of teaching medical students.
