Job Role:

The post holder will be responsible for providing consultant input into the care of individuals open to the East Conwy Community Mental Health Team.

The service operates a single point of access for all referrals, with a daily meeting deciding the most appropriate person to see each patient. The meeting involves senior representatives from primary and secondary care teams, as well as a consultant psychiatrist.

The post holder will be expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management for adults aged 18 and above with serious and enduring mental illness in East Conwy.

Main Responsibilities:

The post holder will provide medical input to patients under secondary care CMHT when required by the care coordinator. They will also provide consultation and supervision for Primary Mental Health Services in their catchment area.

The service delivers a needs-led service, with the post holder managing patients above 65 until their needs are met by the Older Persons Mental Health Services. The post holder will be based with the CMHT and work with the county manager to ensure clinical leadership of the multi-disciplinary team.

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate will hold an MB BS or equivalent medical qualification and be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment. They will also be included on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Desirable Qualifications:

Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management, as well as MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and Welsh AC Approval.
