Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the DRIVE IDVA Team as a Domestic Violence Prevention Specialist. The role involves providing face-to-face and virtual support to survivors of domestic abuse, working in partnership with other professionals to ensure risk management and safeguarding duties are effectively met.
As a key member of the team, you will develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse. You will implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
The successful candidate will hold a caseload focusing on high-risk survivors of domestic abuse, providing medium to long-term support based on thorough risk assessment and individual safety and support planning. You will attend regular case meetings with the DRIVE Case Managers and partnership agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work in partnership with other professionals to ensure risk management and safeguarding duties are effectively met.
- Develop and maintain effective partnership working with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.

Requirements:
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse.
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
- Understand safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
