Job Title: Second Miller

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Miller to join our team at our Avonmouth site. As a Second Miller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our flour products and contributing to the smooth operation of our mill.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse flour production data and work with the Shift Miller to ensure that the flour meets the quality parameters specified.
  • Review production data, plan, transfer, and analyse flour transfers and testing to ensure a high level of quality.
  • Ensure good communication with colleagues and customers to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Prepare customer information and certificates as required.
  • Operate the weighbridge and silo wheat systems as needed.
  • Provide accurate stock counts and reports for all commodities.
  • Work with the Shift Miller to set the mill and screen room machinery to the settings laid down in the specification system.
  • Identify and report any mechanically failing items of plant.
  • Undertake sifter repairs as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the plant and suggest solutions.
  • Hand over to the next shift in a proper and clean state and communicate any unusual situations to the next Second Miller.

About You:

  • City & Guilds in Flour Milling course (or in the process of completing it).
  • Experience working on shifts in a flour mill.
