About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for developing and managing electrical systems and equipment.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in power system design, modelling and analysis. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and collaborating with external specialists to develop and analyse platform power systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop design solutions to meet project requirements, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Manage and maintain technical documentation, including diagrams, specifications and supporting calculations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual and performance requirements.
  • Support the development of estimates and resource plans for engineering projects.
  • Deliver technical input and engineering solutions to support build activities, defect resolution and change management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A Bachelor's degree (BEng or MEng) in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
  2. Demonstrable experience of the entire engineering lifecycle, from conceptual design to commissioning and maintenance.
  3. Strong understanding of one or more of the following areas: power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, power electronics.
  4. In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following areas: power systems architecture, power systems modelling, power generation and distribution, power system protection and coordination, power system operation, power electronics.
  5. Experience working within relevant engineering roles, adhering to industry codes and standards.
