Job Title: Advanced Pharmacist Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Pharmacist Specialist to join our team at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Pharmacy Services team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice, with experience in a range of ward and clinical areas. You will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to our surgical wards, including the Intensive Care Unit and Pre-op Clinic. You will also work closely with other pharmacists in the surgical team to ensure seamless care of patients transferred to/from the surgical wards.

As an Advanced Pharmacist Specialist, you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills, working closely with our Pharmacy Leadership Team to drive the development of our clinical pharmacy services. You will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching junior pharmacists and pharmacy students, and contributing to the development of our Pharmacy Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to our surgical wards, including the Intensive Care Unit and Pre-op Clinic.
  • Work closely with other pharmacists in the surgical team to ensure seamless care of patients transferred to/from the surgical wards.
  • Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services in line with our Pharmacy Strategic Direction.
  • Mentor and coach junior pharmacists and pharmacy students.
  • Contribute to the development of our Pharmacy Services, including the development of guidelines and policies.
Person Specification
  • Master's degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registration with the GPHC.
  • Postgraduate qualification in hospital pharmacy (or completion of 2-year study towards one).
  • 2 years post-registration UK hospital experience.
  • Clinical experience in a range of ward and clinical areas.
  • Teaching/training/coaching experience.
  • Responsibility for a defined area requiring prioritisation/problem-solving/delegation.
  • Experience of leading or implementing change.
  • Good clinical knowledge of commonly prescribed medicines.
  • Good knowledge of NICE guidelines for common conditions.
  • Good knowledge of the NHS and current priorities.
