As a Children's Staff Nurse at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will have the opportunity to work within our supportive teams and develop your skills in a diverse range of specialities. You will be part of a dynamic and cohesive team, working closely with Clinical Educators and other colleagues to provide excellent patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Provide exceptional patient care, underpinned by evidence-based practice.
  • Nursing Standards: Maintain and develop high standards of nursing care, reflecting professional nursing practice and patient care.
  • Team Support: Support Senior Band 5, 6s, and 7s in maintaining a positive and productive team environment.
  • Personal Development: Be self-aware and responsible for own training needs, skill enhancement, and registration renewal.

We have four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, and Horton General Hospital - and our paediatric units offer a variety of specialities, including craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, plastics, ENT, and Neurosurgery. We also have a dedicated theatre direct admission service and outreach support for children's care.

Our Paediatric Units

  • Robins Ward: Cares for children requiring craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate, plastics, ENT, and Neurosurgery.
  • Kamrans Ward: Provides care for children receiving treatment for cancer or haematology conditions.
  • Bellhouse Drayson Ward: Offers care for children aged 0-12 years with medical conditions, including Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, and Respiratory medicine.
  • Children's CDU: A 24-hour unit providing care for children from various specialities who need further assessment, observation, continuation of treatment, or results.
  • Toms Ward: A large surgical unit caring for children requiring elective and emergency surgical treatment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Part 1, 8, 12, or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register).
  • UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation.

Benefits

Working as a Children's Staff Nurse at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers a competitive salary of £29,970 to £36,483 per annum, pro rata. We also offer opportunities for professional development and a supportive team environment.
