Job Title: Adult Phlebotomist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Adult Phlebotomist to join our team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by collecting blood samples from inpatients and outpatients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venepuncture techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues to ensure accurate identification and labelling of samples.
  • Perform phlebotomy duties at various locations, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities carried out.
Requirements:
  • GCSE in Maths and English, Grade A - C (5 - 9) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Training.
  • Understanding of role and activities associated with the post.
  • Knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
  • Previous relevant experience or working in the NHS.
Person Specification:
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills, ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity appropriate to activities associated with post.
Working Environment:

The successful candidate will work across various sites, including West Suffolk Hospital, Sudbury Community Health Centre, Newmarket, and Mildenhall. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
