The Chair of Governors is a strategic leadership role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to drive school improvement and ensure the best possible education for children. As a Governor, you will work closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team to develop and implement plans for school improvement.
About the RoleThe Chair of Governors will be responsible for ensuring accountability, providing support and challenge to the school's senior leadership team, monitoring and evaluating the school's progress, budgetary allocation and control, shaping plans for school improvement and overseeing their implementation, setting the school's aims and values, and appointing senior members of staff including the Head Teacher.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Governing Body in setting the school's strategic direction
- Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team to drive school improvement
- Maintain effective relationships with parents, carers, and the local community
- Ensure the school's budget is managed effectively
- Monitor and evaluate the school's progress against its improvement plan
You will need to be over 18 and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of working in an educational setting would be beneficial but is not essential. You must be able to commit to attending regular Governing Body meetings and be willing to take on additional responsibilities as required.

SalaryThe salary for this role is estimated to be around £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
