About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Ground Engineering team at Ed Zueblin AG - UK Branch. As a key member of our tender team, you will be responsible for developing and presenting tender information, working closely with clients to define project requirements, and identifying opportunities for optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and present tender information, including estimates for ground engineering projects, to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Work closely with clients to define project requirements, clarify tender queries, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Manage tender design work, including internal or external design resources, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Participate in the tender team to develop solutions, programs, and methods of construction that meet client needs and company objectives.
  • Liaise with the procurement department and supply chain to obtain quotations for resources, materials, and services.
  • Arrange commercial reviews of draft subcontract documents to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Incorporate current subcontract and material costs into the tender cost estimation to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Drive value engineering, temporary works, and other technical elements of cost estimation to optimize project outcomes.
  • Price tender enquiries using iTWO Estimating software to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Complete risk and chance analysis to identify high risks and opportunities for senior management.
  • Prepare tender and governance documentation, including offer letters and supporting documentation, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage input and maintenance of tender project details in the global project database to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist the bid team in post-tender negotiations to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Price preliminaries and reconcile pricing with the planning team to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Develop and mentor junior estimating staff to ensure knowledge transfer and skills development.
  • Contribute to the development of estimating standards and systems for the business unit to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Requirements
  • BEng/BSc qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, or related degree (HNC/HND considered).
  • Significant experience within the construction sector with a sound technical knowledge of geotechnical products and solutions.
  • Knowledge of commercial conditions, including NEC, and design process.
  • Experience in estimating ground engineering projects.
  • Computerized estimating systems and IT skills as appropriate.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Experience of working on large infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical design.
  • Experience of producing tender programs.
