About the Role

As a Financial Management Specialist at South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a crucial role in delivering cost-effective financial management and financial support services for the property portfolio. You will be responsible for preparing, assessing, and monitoring tenant service charge and reserve funds, as well as monitoring revenue and identifying exceptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor tenant service charge and reserve funds, including monitoring payments, calculating expenses, and reconciling charge calculations.
  • Monitor revenue and identify exceptions, advising senior management on progress towards targets and KPIs.
  • Liaise with colleagues to monitor rent reviews and ensure implementation by the due date to contribute to corporate income expectations.
  • Process receipts, fees, and income, and associated documentation to ensure all costs are recovered.
  • Prepare detailed project cost reports to support the development of quarterly monitors and department service planning.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience, with a qualification in accounting or a related field.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that delivers financial management and financial support services.
  • Previous experience in a property team, construction, or facilities management environment.
  • Experience of preparing financial and budget information for budget holders.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial systems, with proven IT skills and experience of using computerised databases and monitoring systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with stakeholders.
