Financial Services Manager for Schools

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School's Finance Officer to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our finance team, you will provide specialist support services to schools, ensuring they meet their statutory obligations and strategic functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site visits and office-based support to schools, ensuring effective financial management of resources.
  • Advise schools on accounting practices and procedures, ensuring compliance with South Gloucestershire's policies.
  • Use budgeting and accounting software to provide budget modelling and information to assist schools with budget setting and monitoring.
  • Handle queries via the helpdesk, providing advice and support to schools.
  • Deliver financial training and support to School Business Managers, Finance Admin Staff, Head teachers, and Governors.

Requirements

  • Hold a qualification to Association of Accounting Technician level or working towards it, or hold a School Business Manager Qualification.
  • Have experience of using computerised databases and monitoring systems, such as CIVICA and HCSS.
  • Have a good understanding of the financial requirements of local authority schools and academies, including budget setting and monitoring.
